Kites took a sideline in my life after a short while, until during college when I began to play with them some more. At this point I purchased a Flexifoil Proteam 8. I played with this kite along with my Skylite a few more time throughout my college career without really getting full on into it. Since then kites have mostly been a space consumer in my closet. In the recent months of 2004, I have once again gotten the kites out of the closet, and began to mess around. Now married, I even braved to take my wife and let her have the lines. I have found a friend who also has an interest in kites and have flown a few times now with him. We are rank amateurs, and to this point, I have really only flown my kite with tight lines. So here goes my foray into radical free-style kiting. In the past 2 months I have bought an addtional flexifoil, a stacker 6, and been in some serious kite envy. I have my eyes set on two kites in particular both are by the same designer, Tim Benson. I am seriously jonesing for a Gemini, and an Airbow. I think with my current desire to learn some "tricks" and my desire to do some more creative things with the kite rather than just flying it through the sky, the first on my list would be the Gemini. I will look to add some pictures soon, and I am adding two pictures below that will graph the wind speed in the local area to me. I am using the local airport as it is delayed, more accurate data, and a realtime feed from a local elementary school. As long as the PC that serves this stays running there should be a graph of the days wind here to help determine if it is worth trying to fly today. Weather Graph by Daves Planet |
